The Department of Agricultural Sciences started Master’s program with 12 students from the 2020-2021 Fall semester. The doctorate program will start with student admission in the 2020-2021 Spring semester. Besides of developing trained, qualified and competent scientists for agriculture, The Department of Agricultural Sciences enables the students to develop himself / herself in line with the needs and orientation of the agricultural sector by gaining experience with the agricultural sector employees. Department of Agricultural Sciences is an interdisciplinary program offering research activities in different disciplines like Field Crops, Horticulture, Crop Production and Technology, Plant Protection (Entomology, Pathology), Agricultural Biotechnology, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Soil Science and Plant Nutrition. The objective of the program is to provide quality education based on experiments and research-based activities in order to be the part of internationally respected programs.
The objectives of the Master and Doctorate Programs in Agricultural Sciences are to introduce the basic concepts of today's modern agricultural sciences, use of existing knowledge and technology to find solutions to complex problems in agriculture and related industrial areas, development of original knowledge and technology in order to give students the ability to work in team orientation. During this postgraduate education, the development of intellectual depth will enable he students to gain experience in education, scientific research or agricultural projects for his/her career. In addition, students will also develop other characteristics such as generating creative ideas, problem solving ability, work in teams, communication, scientific knowledge sharing, scientific ethics, social awareness and leadership. It also enables the training of people with the necessary competence and knowledge using intra-disciplinary and interdisciplinary studies.
The Agricultural Sciences Master's Program started from fall semester 2020 and Doctorate Programs in the spring semester 2021 is design with mission to develop postgraduate education at the highest level, to develop the trained manpower to the highest quality with innovative and original training methods, to develop products and technology that will contribute to the development and economy of the country with qualified faculty members, with the R&D and technology projects, and to continuously improve its research infrastructure and knowledge through various national / international projects, to increase financial opportunities and opportunities with various domestic and international funds and resources, competency in the field for academic career goals, and to train academicians with the potential to teach and conduct advanced research.
