POSTGRADUATE STUDY AT SİVAS UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

  • International students can apply for the graduate programs all year-round. Applications made after the term starts will be considered for the following term.
  • For master programs, students are required to have a bachelor’s degree. Students with a master's degree or a bachelor’s degree can apply for Ph.D. programs.
  • For Master’s and Ph.D. programs, there is no international exam or language obligation for international students during the application. However, students have to submit a document of language proficiency relevant to the medium of instruction.
  • Applications will be directed to the relevant department for evaluation. There is no specified quota of students for graduate programs. The number of probable international students is determined by the head of the department and the Graduate School Council. Applicants are advised to contact the head of the department or the potential supervisor with whom they would like to study before making the application.
  • Applicants will be informed about the results of their applications via email.
  • Applicants who receive an acceptance letter can proceed with visa and registration procedures. Registrations are carried out by the registrar’s office of the Graduate School on the dates that are announced on the Graduate School’s web page.
  • Unless exemplified by the bilateral agreements, international students are required to pay the tuition fee determined by the University’s Administrative Council.
Tuition Fees

  • For registration, the tuition fee for the first semester must be paid before/during the registration.
  • The tuition fee for the 2021-2022 Academic year for Master's is 2800 TL and Ph.D. programs is 3000 TL per year.
  • The tuition fee must be paid to the related bank account of the Graduate School with the statement of the applicant’s name and surname.

Issues Related to Language Proficiency

  • Students who register for Turkish programs are obliged to take a Turkish preparatory course for one year unless (can be extended for up to 2 years) they have Turkish proficiency levels B2 or above.  Turkish Language Certificate is not required from the graduates of a higher education institution in which the medium of instruction is Turkish. Students who want to obtain a Turkish Language proficiency certificate can take the Turkish Proficiency Exam offered by CÜ TÖMER (Turkish Language Teaching Applications and Research Center). Detailed information for the Turkish language courses is available at the TÖMER website.
  • Those who would like to be enrolled in programs offered in English or who would like to take courses in English must have at least 55 (fiftyfive) for the Master's programs and PhD programs, from the English language proficiency exams which are accepted by ÖSYM (National Measuring, Selection, and Placement Center https://www.osym.gov.tr/). Proof of English language proficiency is not required from the candidates whose mother tongue is English or have achieved their Bachelor's or Master's degrees from an English-medium university. Those who do not meet the English language proficiency requirement are allowed to be enrolled in a maximum of four semesters of a preparation program for learning English offered by SBTÜ School of Foreign Languages (http://sfl.sivas.edu.tr/).
Documents for Registration

  1. 1 (one) application form,
  2. For master's programs, a Turkish translation or English document of the undergraduate diploma or graduation certificate and transcript approved by the diplomatic representative, notary or sworn translator,
  3. For doctoral programs, candidates who apply to doctoral programs with a bachelor's degree; Turkish translation or English document of undergraduate and graduate diploma or graduation certificate and transcript approved by diplomatic representation, notary public or sworn translator for candidates applying with a master's degree,
  4. Candidates applying to doctoral programs must have received at least 55 points from the central foreign language exams conducted by YOK (Higher Education Institution) or OSYM, or an equivalent score from the international foreign language exams accepted by YÖK. Candidates who have completed their undergraduate or graduate education in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Chinese, Persian languages other than their mother tongue accepted by YÖK; If they document this situation, they are exempted from the foreign language requirement with the decision of the relevant department and the approval of the Institute Administrative Board
  5. Photocopy of the identity-related part of the passport and its Turkish translation or English document approved by the diplomatic representation, notary or sworn translator
  6. 1 (one) photo.
  7. Candidates must have the recognition of the institutions they graduated from by YÖK. Students graduating from an institution that is not recognized by YÖK are dismissed from the Institute even if they have registered.
